Primary Responsibilities:

Provide leadership and strategic direction for Materials Management functions to ensure sourcing requirements are achieved in alignment with overall business goals.  Will pursue initiatives to deliver cost improvements, optimize material flow and develop team members to increase customer focus and satisfaction in support of a continuous improvement culture based on operational excellence.

Primary Accountabilities:

  •  Direct and coordinate purchasing, kitting and receiving, and inventory management activities
  • Understand pricing, market conditions and assess risks for key products/commodities to develop sourcing strategies
  • Drive continuous improvement across the supply base in cost, quality and delivery
  • Evaluate and implement best practices to mitigate lost production time due to material availability
  • Streamline processes to reduce lead time, labor and freight with the goal of reducing inventory and costs
  • Ensure the resources, infrastructure and layout of the Storeroom are optimized to meet business needs
  • Establish/adhere to policies and procedures to ensure consistency and proper controls are in place for purchasing and safe keeping of inventory and assets
  • Control inventory by ensuring it is counted and recorded accurately in a timely manner
  • Oversee the use and optimization of the ERP system within the Materials Management functions
  • Collaboration with Sales, Scheduling, Production, Quality and Finance in support of company objectives and customer requirements
  • Analyze performance metrics and facilitate appropriate actions to achieve business goals
  • Manage departmental budget
  • Contribute material management information and recommendations to strategic plans and reviews
  • Coaching and developing team members to maintain adequately trained staffing
  • Perform other various duties as assigned

  Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  •  Required degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Management, or other related field
  • 8+ years of experience in materials management, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • APICS certification desired
  • Excellent sourcing and negotiating skills
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and collaboration skills with the ability to train as well as lead
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities with a sense of urgency
  • Proven success in improving processes and leading change
  • Experience working across cross-functional teams
  • Exhibits positive behaviors with a customer appreciation mentality
  • Strong working knowledge and understanding of ERP systems and Microsoft Office
